Fun Facts: She grew up on a chicken farm, but please don’t ask her anything about chickens. In her free time, she likes to read, write, and play video games! So far, she has read 47 books this year, including novels, comics/manga, school stuff, etc. Her current record is 126.

Hi friends! I’m studying abroad in Rome until winter quarter (and absolutely loving it), but I’m really looking forward to returning to UCSB and AAUW :)  I’m a transfer student, so I’ve only had one full year at UCSB and am so excited to be more involved in the student community.  I’m a member of Delta Gamma, I’m an avid reader, I love hiking and exploring new places, and you’ll always see me with a matcha latte in hand at Dean coffee shop.  I can’t wait to meet you all!

Miriam Burnett is a mother, student, and advocate dedicated to enhancing the cultural and educational experiences of Black and other underrepresented students in higher STEM education. Burnett graduated from the University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB) with  both her Bachelors and Masters as a nontraditional student. After working with the Educational eXcellence and Inclusion Training Opportunities (EXITO) program to develop a “4+1” program, her exploration grew into an investigation of  the relationship of Black students' sense of belonging and first-year retention in foundational STEM courses at predominantly White educational institutions. Persisting through graduate studies, currently her doctoral work commits to increasing STEM sociocultural support and academic services for marginalized students like herself at community colleges and universities in California

Hi! I’m from San Jose, California. I’ve always been extremely invested in diversity and equity, and AAUW gives me a chance to further that and expand others’ awareness on campus in an impactful way. My hobbies include making terrible 2010s Spotify playlists, creating random apps, and reading (90% of my free time is spent reading - please give me recommendations)!

Hey! I moved to SB last year for school, but mostly for the beach. I love chilling on the beach, reading a good book, as a nice getaway from school stressors. A cool fact about me is I have a chinchilla named Chili :)) (if anyone asks, yes I will share lots of pictures). I enjoy spending time with family, friends, my boyfriend, but mostly rewatching New Girl for the 8th time!

Hi! I am so excited to be joining AAUW! I am from a suburb north of Chicago. I love running, listening to music, watching reality tv, and hanging out with friends in my free time. I also spend a lot of my time at the beach, tanning, swimming, or running. A fun fact about me is that I have a twin sister!

Hi, I’m Maddie! I’m a fourth year communication student at UCSB from San Diego, California. After I graduate, I plan to continue with my postgrad studies by working towards my MA in Marriage and Family Counseling. I love fashion, indie movies, books, and my dog, and I’m a proud member of UCSB’s Delta Gamma sorority. A fun fact about me is I spent the summer studying abroad in Florence, so I speak minimal Italian!
